2027: Fani-Kayode Tells Dele Momodu His Influence Will Fade if Tinubu Secures Victory

A fresh war of words has erupted in Nigeria’s political space as Femi Fani-Kayode fired back at veteran journalist Dele Momodu over comments linked to the 2027 general elections.

Fani-Kayode, in a strongly worded reaction, asserted that Momodu’s relevance in national discourse would diminish if Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures victory in the next presidential election. He argued that the current administration’s political strength and growing support base position Tinubu favorably ahead of the 2027 contest.

The former minister accused Momodu of consistently aligning with opposing political interests, suggesting that his criticism of Tinubu’s leadership is rooted in partisan considerations. He maintained that those opposing the president would lose influence as the administration consolidates its achievements and strengthens its hold on power.

Fani-Kayode further emphasized that Tinubu’s policies and governance style would ultimately win over more Nigerians, making it difficult for critics to maintain their standing in the public space. He described the anticipated political outcome as a turning point that would reshape alliances and redefine relevance among political commentators.

In response, allies of Momodu have dismissed Fani-Kayode’s remarks, insisting that public discourse should remain open and not be tied to electoral outcomes. They argue that criticism of government policies is a fundamental aspect of democracy and should not be equated with a loss of influence.

The exchange adds to a growing series of confrontations between both figures, reflecting deeper divisions within Nigeria’s political and media landscape as early conversations around the 2027 elections begin to take shape.
