A fresh wave of tension has emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a faction led by Bala Mohammed staged a protest against a rival group reportedly aligned with David Mark.
The protest, which drew party loyalists and supporters, was organized to publicly reject what Bala’s camp described as “unauthorized interference” in the party’s internal structure. Addressing the gathering, Bala firmly warned the opposing faction to “leave the party alone,” insisting that any attempt to impose leadership or disrupt existing arrangements would not be tolerated.
According to him, the ADC must remain guided by its constitution and due process, rather than external influence or parallel leadership claims. He emphasized that the integrity and unity of the party are paramount, especially at a time when political alignments ahead of future elections are becoming increasingly sensitive.
Supporters at the protest echoed similar sentiments, carrying placards and chanting slogans that reinforced their loyalty to Bala’s leadership stance. Many accused the rival faction of trying to create confusion within the party and undermine its stability.
On the other side, individuals believed to be aligned with David Mark have maintained that their involvement in the ADC is legitimate and aimed at strengthening the party’s national relevance. While they have not directly responded to the protest, sources within the group suggest they are pursuing broader consultations and engagements within the party structure.
Political observers note that the situation reflects deeper divisions within the ADC, as influential figures continue to vie for control and direction of the party. The unfolding dispute could shape the party’s internal cohesion and its positioning in the wider political landscape.
As tensions persist, party members and stakeholders are calling for dialogue and reconciliation to prevent further escalation and ensure that the ADC remains a viable platform for political participation.
