Gunmen Strike Again in Jos, Three Feared Dead and One Injured

At least three people have been feared dead and another injured following a fresh attack by suspected gunmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of the day when armed assailants stormed a residential area, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents. Witnesses said the attackers operated for several minutes without resistance, forcing many people to flee their homes in search of safety.

Local sources disclosed that the victims were caught off guard, with two said to have died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries shortly after. The injured victim is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby health facility.

Residents described the attack as sudden and terrifying, noting that it has further heightened tension in the area. Many have called for increased security presence, expressing concern over the recurring nature of such incidents.

Security operatives were later deployed to the scene, where they cordoned off the area and began preliminary investigations. Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the attack, but efforts are said to be underway to track down those responsible.

 

Community leaders have urged calm while appealing to government and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property. The latest incident adds to growing concerns about safety in parts of Plateau State, where communities continue to grapple with sporadic violence.
