Pinnick Addresses Possibility of Returning as NFF President

Amaju Pinnick, former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has spoken openly about speculation surrounding a possible return to the leadership of Nigerian football, clarifying his position amid growing public discussion.

Pinnick explained that while he remains deeply passionate about the development of football in Nigeria, any decision regarding a return to the NFF presidency would depend on due process, stakeholder consensus, and the overall interest of the sport. He stressed that leadership positions in football administration should not be driven by personal ambition but by the need to move the game forward sustainably.

Reflecting on his previous tenure, Pinnick highlighted key reforms and milestones achieved under his leadership, including improved administrative structures, stronger international partnerships, and better visibility for Nigerian football on the global stage. He noted that these achievements were the result of collective effort and institutional support rather than individual leadership alone.

He also acknowledged the challenges currently facing Nigerian football, such as governance concerns, funding limitations, grassroots development gaps, and the need for greater transparency. According to Pinnick, addressing these issues requires unity among football stakeholders, clear policies, and long-term planning rather than constant leadership changes driven by political interests.

Pinnick added that he is presently focused on his roles within international football administration and remains committed to supporting Nigerian football in advisory or developmental capacities if called upon. He emphasized that the future of the NFF should prioritize competence, credibility, and continuity to restore public confidence and attract investment into the sport.

Concluding his remarks, Pinnick urged football administrators, fans, and policymakers to place the growth of the game above personal or factional interests, stating that Nigerian football can only reach its full potential through stability, professionalism, and shared vision.
