Mr Ibu’s Widow Denies Allegations of Secretly Selling Late Husband’s Properties

The widow of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has dismissed allegations that she secretly sold her husband’s properties for personal gain, insisting that every transaction involving the late actor’s assets was carried out legally and with the approval of those concerned.

Responding to the claims, Stella Maris Okafor said the sale of one of the properties was conducted in compliance with a court order and with the consent of Mr Ibu’s sons. She maintained that she possesses official documents to support her position and rejected suggestions that she acted alone or concealed proceeds from the transactions.

According to her, one of the properties in Enugu State was sold to help cover expenses related to the actor’s burial. She explained that the decision was made jointly and not for her personal benefit, stressing that all relevant evidence is available to prove the legality of the sale.

Stella Maris also addressed criticism over her family’s financial situation, revealing that she currently operates an online jewellery business while raising her children. She noted that she intends to relocate from her current residence to a more affordable home because of the high cost of living and financial challenges facing the family.

The controversy follows accusations by one of Mr Ibu’s sons, who alleged that several of the late actor’s properties had been sold without the knowledge or benefit of some family members. He also claimed he did not receive adequate financial support after his father’s death.

In response, Stella Maris denied all allegations of wrongdoing, insisting that she has remained transparent in handling matters concerning her late husband’s estate. She appealed for understanding and urged the public not to rely on unverified claims while the family continues to navigate life after the actor’s passing.
