Army Says Troops Free 21 Hostages and Prevent Multiple Attacks in Ongoing Operations Nationwide

The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops, deployed across various theatres of operation, successfully rescued 21 kidnapped victims while also thwarting several planned attacks during a series of coordinated missions conducted in different parts of the country.

According to a military update, the operations were carried out as part of sustained efforts to improve security and dismantle the networks of criminal groups, including bandits, insurgents, and other armed elements threatening the safety of communities. The Army revealed that the breakthroughs were recorded through both ground operations and intelligence-led missions.

Troops operating within the North-West and North-Central regions reportedly engaged armed groups in multiple confrontations. In one of the missions, the soldiers tracked the movements of kidnappers holding several civilians hostage and launched a carefully executed rescue operation that led to the safe recovery of 21 victims. The rescued individuals were immediately taken to a secure location where they underwent medical checks and debriefing before being handed over to relevant authorities for reunification with their families.

In addition to the rescue, troops on patrol intercepted criminal elements attempting to launch attacks on villages and transit routes. Through rapid mobilization and the support of local intelligence networks, the soldiers were able to disrupt the planned assaults, forcing the attackers to flee and abandoning weapons and logistics materials in the process. Several hideouts were also destroyed to prevent the regrouping of the armed groups.

The Army emphasized that the success of these operations reflects a reinforced commitment to restoring stability across conflict-prone areas. It added that special units, including surveillance teams and rapid-response forces, have been deployed to intensify monitoring and respond swiftly to emerging threats.

Military authorities used the opportunity to reassure citizens that operations will continue without letup until all criminal activities are decisively curtailed. They called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that can assist in identifying and dismantling criminal hideouts.

The rescue of the 21 hostages and the disruption of the planned attacks mark another step in ongoing nationwide security efforts aimed at safeguarding communities and ensuring the freedom of movement for citizens across the country.
