2027: APC Leader Yusuf Says Opposition Parties Cannot Halt Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid

A prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf, has expressed strong confidence that opposition political parties will be unable to prevent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing a second term in office in the 2027 general election.

Speaking during a political engagement with party supporters, Yusuf stated that the APC remains firmly positioned to retain power due to what he described as the president’s growing political strength, strategic leadership, and expanding grassroots support across the country. According to him, recent political realignments and internal challenges within opposition parties have further weakened their capacity to mount a serious challenge against the ruling party.

Yusuf argued that President Tinubu’s administration has taken bold and difficult decisions aimed at stabilising the economy, strengthening national institutions, and repositioning Nigeria for long-term growth. He acknowledged that some policies have been met with criticism but insisted that they are necessary reforms whose benefits will become more evident over time.

The APC chieftain also emphasized the party’s internal structure, noting that the APC enjoys a nationwide presence with strong leadership at the federal, state, and local government levels. He said this structure gives the party a clear advantage over rival parties that are still grappling with internal disputes, leadership crises, and ideological differences.

Addressing claims that opposition coalitions could threaten the ruling party’s chances in 2027, Yusuf dismissed such assertions as unrealistic. He maintained that forming alliances alone is not enough, adding that credibility, unity, and a clear governance record are essential factors that voters consider.

He further stated that the APC is already engaging with citizens across different regions to highlight the achievements of the Tinubu administration while listening to public concerns. According to Yusuf, this continuous engagement will strengthen public trust and consolidate support ahead of the next election cycle.

Yusuf urged APC members to remain focused, united, and committed to delivering effective governance rather than being distracted by political rhetoric. He stressed that sustained performance and party cohesion would be the key drivers of success in 2027.

As political discussions around the next general election begin to gain momentum, Yusuf’s remarks reflect growing confidence within the APC that President Tinubu’s leadership and the party’s organisational strength will keep it ahead of its rivals in the race for Nigeria’s top office.
