Peter Obi has dismissed speculation suggesting that he plans to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating clearly that he has no intention of leaving his current political platform.
Speaking through his media team and close associates, the former presidential candidate emphasized that reports linking him to the ADC are false and misleading. He explained that while consultations and discussions with various political stakeholders remain part of democratic engagement, such interactions should not be interpreted as plans to defect to another party.
Obi reaffirmed his commitment to his political ideology, which he said is focused on good governance, accountability, economic productivity, and people-oriented leadership rather than personal ambition or party hopping. According to him, Nigeria’s challenges require principled leadership and consistency, not constant changes in political alignment.
He also urged supporters and members of the public to disregard rumours circulating on social media and other platforms, noting that misinformation often intensifies as election seasons approach. Obi stressed that his priority remains building a strong movement that promotes transparency, national unity, and inclusive development.
Addressing the broader political climate ahead of 2027, Obi stated that any decisions about alliances or political strategies would be communicated openly and at the appropriate time. He maintained that he remains focused on engaging Nigerians, especially youths, professionals, and grassroots supporters, on the need for a new direction in leadership.
The clarification has helped calm debates among supporters who had expressed concern over the reports, with many welcoming his assurance and reiteration of commitment to his political path as preparations for the next general election gradually take shape.
