A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ibrahim Modibbo, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will suffer defeat in the 2027 presidential election, expressing confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains a formidable opposition candidate.
Modibbo made the claim while discussing the political outlook ahead of the 2027 general elections. He argued that the political dynamics emerging ahead of the election could work against the incumbent administration.
According to him, Tinubu could face an early setback on election day, suggesting that the outcome may become apparent shortly after voting begins.
The ADC chieftain also expressed strong support for Atiku, describing the former vice president as a candidate who would be difficult for other contenders to match.
His comments come as opposition parties and political figures intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential contest. The ADC has increasingly positioned itself as a platform for opposition forces seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
