Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has maintained that the party is yet to officially produce a governorship candidate for the 2027 election, warning against claims suggesting that a consensus nominee has already been decided.
Adelabu made the clarification during a political engagement with party stakeholders in Ibadan, where he stressed that all aspirants remain on equal footing pending the final decision of the APC national leadership.
He cautioned party members and supporters against premature celebrations or assumptions regarding the outcome of the governorship race, noting that the party’s internal democratic process is still ongoing and must be respected.
According to him, any claim that a candidate has been endorsed or adopted through consensus at the state level is not in line with the official position of the party structure.
The former minister, who is also a frontline contender in the APC governorship race, urged members to remain calm and focused while awaiting the formal announcement from the party after due consultations and internal procedures are concluded.
He further emphasized that the APC operates a structured selection process, where decisions on candidates are ultimately determined through established party mechanisms, which may include consensus-building or direct primaries depending on outcomes at the national level.
Adelabu reaffirmed his commitment to the party and expressed confidence that the process would be fair and transparent for all aspirants involved in the contest.
