Residents of a community in Ondo State were thrown into panic following the abduction of a traditional ruler by armed men suspected to be kidnappers.
According to local sources, the incident occurred when the attackers intercepted the monarch and his wife while they were travelling within the area. During the attack, the gunmen reportedly opened fire, leaving the monarch’s wife with gunshot injuries before abducting the traditional ruler and taking him to an unknown destination.
The injured woman was said to have been rushed to a nearby medical facility, where she is receiving treatment. Community members expressed shock over the incident and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the monarch and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Security operatives have reportedly launched a search operation in the area, while local authorities continue to monitor developments. The incident has renewed concerns over rising cases of kidnapping and violent attacks in parts of the state.
