Former Sokoto State Governor and prominent opposition figure, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has stated that only politicians with courage, conviction, and a willingness to embrace political change can align themselves with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
Tambuwal made the remark while addressing supporters and party stakeholders, stressing that joining a political movement committed to reform requires individuals who are prepared to place national interest above personal ambition and political convenience.
According to him, the ADC is positioning itself as a platform for Nigerians seeking credible leadership, good governance, accountability, and inclusive development. He noted that politicians considering joining the party must be ready to face political challenges, criticism, and the sacrifices associated with building a strong opposition capable of competing effectively in future elections.
The former governor emphasized that political transformation in Nigeria would require leaders who possess the courage to stand by their principles and work collectively towards addressing the country’s economic and social challenges. He added that the strength of any political movement lies not only in the number of its members but also in the quality, integrity, and commitment of those who choose to be part of it.
Tambuwal further encouraged political actors who share similar ideals and aspirations for national development to work together in promoting democratic values, strengthening institutions, and offering Nigerians a credible alternative ahead of the next electoral cycle.
