APC Says Makinde Will Be Held Accountable for His Administration at the Appropriate Time

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will be called to account for the actions and decisions of his administration at the appropriate time, insisting that no public official is above scrutiny.

The party made the remarks while responding to recent political developments involving the governor, maintaining that accountability remains an essential principle of democratic governance. APC leaders argued that every government is expected to operate transparently and be prepared to explain its stewardship after leaving office.

The party also alleged that there are several issues from the Makinde administration that deserve closer examination, including matters relating to governance, public spending, infrastructure projects, and security. According to the APC, such concerns should be addressed through the appropriate legal and institutional processes whenever necessary.

The statement further criticized the governor’s recent political comments, accusing him of attempting to divert public attention from challenges facing Oyo State. The party urged the state government to remain focused on delivering quality governance and addressing the needs of residents instead of engaging in unnecessary political confrontations.

While reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law, the APC stressed that any investigation into public office holders should be conducted by competent authorities in accordance with the Constitution and due process. The party added that accountability should apply equally to all elected officials, regardless of political affiliation.

The exchange adds to the growing political tension between the ruling party in Oyo State and the opposition as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
