Troops conducting a coordinated security operation in Benue State have destroyed a suspected terrorist hideout and arrested five individuals believed to be linked to criminal activities during a major clearance exercise aimed at restoring peace in affected communities. The operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle armed groups operating within the state and prevent further attacks on residents.
The security personnel carried out the intelligence-led operation in a forested area identified as a suspected base for armed criminals. During the raid, the troops successfully overpowered the suspects, destroyed structures allegedly used as operational camps, and recovered weapons, ammunition, and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Military authorities said the five suspects were taken into custody for interrogation as investigators work to determine the extent of their involvement in recent security incidents across the area.
