Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed his views on the leadership of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stating that a second opportunity in public office should naturally result in improved performance and better leadership outcomes.
Speaking on political developments in Rivers State, Fayose argued that experience gained from previous roles in governance is meant to help leaders make better decisions, manage conflicts more effectively, and deliver stronger results for the people. According to him, a second chance or “second coming” in leadership carries higher expectations from both the public and political stakeholders.
Fayose suggested that when a leader returns to office with the benefit of experience, the focus should be on unity, stability, and inclusive governance. He emphasized that learning from past challenges is essential, especially in politically sensitive environments such as Rivers State, where tensions and power struggles have remained prominent.
The former governor also touched on the importance of political maturity, noting that leadership is not only about authority but also about building consensus and managing relationships. He implied that improved performance should be evident through policy implementation, calm political atmosphere, and clear direction in governance.
While acknowledging that every administration faces its own challenges, Fayose maintained that the measure of leadership lies in how those challenges are handled. He urged political leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens over personal or factional interests.
His comments have added to ongoing political discourse surrounding governance in Rivers State, with supporters and critics offering varying interpretations. Fayose concluded by reiterating that public office is a trust, and every opportunity to serve should translate into visible progress and stability for the people.
