Popular social media personality and relationship therapist, Blessing CEO, is awaiting a court decision on her bail application in an ongoing alleged N36 million fraud case before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The defendant, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, is facing charges bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and alleged theft. Prosecutors allege that she obtained N36 million from a complainant under the guise of securing a six-bedroom detached duplex in the Lekki area of Lagos.
According to the charges before the court, the transaction took place between July 14 and July 17, 2024. The prosecution further alleges that the representation made to the complainant was false and that the money was subsequently converted for personal use.
During earlier proceedings, the defence informed the court that a substantial portion of the disputed funds had already been refunded to the complainant. Defence counsel stated that N24 million had been repaid and requested time to resolve the outstanding balance.
However, the prosecution maintained that the matter remains a criminal case and should proceed regardless of any private settlement discussions between the parties involved.
Following her arraignment, Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against her. The court subsequently ordered that she remain in custody pending further proceedings and the determination of her bail request.
As the case continues, attention is focused on the court’s ruling regarding her bail application. The outcome is expected to determine whether she will remain in custody or be granted temporary release while the trial proceeds.
The case has attracted significant public interest due to Blessing CEO’s prominence on social media, with many observers closely monitoring developments in the legal proceedings. The court is expected to continue hearing the matter as the prosecution and defence prepare their arguments for trial.
