2027: Atiku Names Kenneth Okonkwo as Campaign Spokesperson

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has appointed lawyer, actor, and politician Kenneth Okonkwo as the official spokesperson for his presidential campaign.

The appointment comes as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum and is expected to strengthen the campaign’s public communication strategy. Okonkwo will be responsible for articulating the campaign’s positions on national issues, engaging with the media, and communicating the candidate’s vision and policy agenda to Nigerians.

The development is particularly notable because it follows recent disagreements over the party’s vice-presidential selection. Okonkwo had earlier expressed reservations about the choice of the running mate, arguing that the decision did not adequately reflect the interests of the South-East. His comments generated political debate and raised questions about unity within the campaign.

Despite those concerns, the latest appointment signals a renewed working relationship between Atiku and Okonkwo. By accepting the role, Okonkwo indicated his readiness to contribute to the campaign’s objectives and work toward presenting the party’s message to voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers believe the decision could help consolidate the campaign’s communication efforts while projecting an image of reconciliation within the party. With the campaign season gradually taking shape, attention is expected to focus on how the team engages voters and responds to key national issues in the months ahead.
