President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured the families of the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls that the Federal Government is working tirelessly to ensure their safe return. The President gave the assurance during a meeting with a delegation of community leaders and parents who visited Abuja to seek updates on the ongoing rescue efforts.
Speaking through his representatives at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu expressed deep concern over the traumatic experience the affected families are going through. He described the abduction as a direct attack on Nigeria’s children, future, and collective peace, vowing that the government will not relent until every girl is safely reunited with her loved ones.
According to the President, security agencies have intensified operations across the suspected hideouts used by the abductors. He stated that intelligence teams, ground troops, and aerial surveillance units are working in coordination to track the location of the girls and dismantle the network behind the attack.
“I want to assure every parent and guardian that your daughters will be rescued safely,” Tinubu said. “No effort is being spared. This government will never allow criminals to hold the nation to ransom.”
The President emphasized that the rescue operation was being handled with utmost caution to avoid endangering the children’s lives. He urged parents to remain calm and trust the process, noting that sensitive details of the operation could not be publicly disclosed at this stage.
Several parents, visibly emotional, appealed for speedy intervention, describing the psychological and emotional distress their families were experiencing. They praised the President for granting them an audience and expressed hope that concrete action would follow.
Community leaders who accompanied the parents also called for greater security presence in border communities, stressing that repeated attacks in the region have left many residents living in fear. They urged the government to strengthen early-warning systems, provide more protection for schools, and improve collaboration between local vigilante groups and federal security forces.
In response, the President reiterated that long-term reforms are already underway to enhance national security, including the procurement of advanced equipment, expansion of intelligence gathering, and restructuring of operational command in high-risk zones.
He assured the delegation that the government is committed not only to rescuing the girls but also to preventing future incidents through improved security measures around schools, especially in vulnerable areas.
As rescue efforts continue, Nigerians across the country have joined in prayers and expressions of solidarity for the victims and their families. The President urged all citizens to remain united and support the nation’s security agencies as they work to bring the abducted schoolgirls home safely.
