Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, declaring that he has no intention of leaving the party or defecting alongside any political figure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Otti made the position clear while addressing party members, supporters, and stakeholders, stressing that his political mandate and reform agenda in Abia State are firmly rooted in the Labour Party’s ideology. He emphasized that his focus remains on governance, service delivery, and consolidating the progress his administration has made since assuming office.
Responding to growing speculation about possible political realignments involving prominent opposition figures, the governor dismissed claims that he would defect or follow any individual into another political platform. He stated that leadership should be guided by principles, responsibility to the electorate, and loyalty to the party that provided the platform for victory.
Otti noted that the Labour Party continues to gain strength across the country and remains a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking good governance. According to him, internal discussions and disagreements within the broader opposition space should not be misinterpreted as a reason for him to abandon his party.
The governor reassured supporters that his administration will continue to prioritize economic reforms, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and transparency in public finance. He urged party faithful to remain united and focused on strengthening the Labour Party ahead of future elections.
Otti also called on political actors to avoid distractions and unnecessary speculation, stressing that his loyalty is to the people of Abia State and the party under which he was elected. He concluded by reaffirming that he remains fully committed to the Labour Party and its vision for national renewal.
