2027 Presidency: Bauchi ADC Backs Atiku Ahead of Election Battle

The Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reportedly thrown its support behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election, signaling early political realignments within the opposition camp.

Party stakeholders and influential members in the state expressed confidence in Atiku’s political experience, leadership credentials, and national reach, describing him as a strong contender capable of leading a broad coalition ahead of the next general election.

The endorsement reportedly emerged after a series of consultations involving party executives, youth groups, and political coordinators who argued that the former vice president possesses the structure and political influence needed to challenge for the presidency in 2027.

According to party insiders, the decision was driven by concerns over the nation’s economic challenges, insecurity, unemployment, and rising cost of living, with supporters insisting that experienced leadership would be necessary to navigate the country through difficult times.

Some ADC members in Bauchi also called for unity among opposition parties, urging political leaders across different regions to work together in building a formidable alliance capable of mounting a strong challenge in the next election cycle.

Political observers believe the endorsement could further intensify discussions surrounding possible coalitions and alliances ahead of 2027, especially as major political figures continue consultations across the country.

Meanwhile, supporters of the former vice president welcomed the development, describing it as a sign of growing confidence in his political relevance and continued influence within northern politics and the wider national landscape.

Despite the endorsement, party officials stressed that internal democratic processes and broader consultations would still play a role in determining the party’s final direction as preparations for the 2027 presidential race gradually gather momentum.
