Babachir Lawal’s Actions Have Dealt Lasting Blow to Atiku and ADC, Says Imran Wakili

A political commentator, Imran Wakili, has alleged that the recent actions and public statements of former government official Babachir Lawal have negatively affected the political standing of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking during a political discussion, Wakili argued that the controversy surrounding Lawal’s position has created fresh challenges for the opposition camp, adding that the situation has weakened public confidence in the coalition’s strategy ahead of future political contests.

According to him, political alliances require unity, consistency, and careful communication, stressing that any development capable of creating internal disagreements could affect public perception and reduce voter confidence.

Wakili further maintained that rebuilding momentum would require stronger coordination among party leaders, a clear policy direction, and renewed engagement with supporters across the country. He noted that political parties must remain focused on presenting practical solutions to national issues rather than allowing internal disagreements to dominate public discourse.

However, supporters of Atiku and the ADC disagreed with the assessment, insisting that the coalition remains united and committed to its political objectives. They argued that differing opinions among political stakeholders are common in democratic systems and do not necessarily weaken a party’s chances.

Political observers say the coming months will provide a clearer picture of how the various political actors manage their differences as preparations for future elections continue.
