Security agencies in Oyo State have intensified efforts to rescue victims and restore calm following a deadly terrorist attack that threw several communities into panic. The Inspector-General of Police, Disu, visited the affected areas to assess the level of destruction and coordinate ongoing security operations aimed at tracking down the attackers.
During the visit, the police chief met with local leaders, traditional rulers, security personnel, and residents who were affected by the violence. He assured communities that the Federal Government and security agencies would not relent until all kidnapped victims are safely rescued and those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
The attack reportedly left several people injured, while properties and businesses were damaged during the invasion. Residents narrated how armed men stormed the communities, causing panic and forcing many families to flee for safety. Security operatives were later deployed to the area to prevent further attacks and begin search-and-rescue operations.
IGP Disu directed tactical teams, intelligence units, and local security formations to intensify surveillance across forests and suspected hideouts within the region. He also ordered increased patrols along major roads and vulnerable communities to strengthen public confidence and prevent another incident.
Community leaders appealed for more security presence and called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing useful information that could help ongoing investigations. Humanitarian support is also being mobilized for displaced families affected by the violence.
Authorities maintained that operations would continue until peace is fully restored across the affected communities in Oyo State.
