Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has officially announced his decision to align with the Accord Party, marking a major shift in the political landscape of the state and signaling a new direction for his political future.
The governor made the declaration during a gathering of supporters, traditional rulers, youth groups, and party stakeholders in Osogbo, where he explained the reasons behind his move and the vision he hopes to pursue under the Accord platform. Adeleke described the decision as a “carefully considered realignment” meant to ensure stability in governance and strengthen the state’s development agenda.
According to the governor, the political atmosphere over recent months made it necessary to seek a platform that would allow him to consolidate ongoing projects without distractions or internal conflict. He highlighted the need for harmony within the political structure that surrounds his administration, stressing that governance becomes more effective when leaders operate within a supportive and unified environment.
Adeleke noted that the Accord Party offered him the space to pursue his objectives with clearer focus, emphasizing that his priority remains the delivery of infrastructure, improved welfare programmes, economic reforms, and a functional civil service for Osun citizens. He assured residents that the shift would not derail ongoing projects, including road rehabilitation, school upgrades, digital economy initiatives, and rural development plans.
During the event, several local government chairmen, aides, and supporters expressed solidarity with the governor, praising his leadership style and commitment to grassroots development. Many described the move as a “strategic step” that would strengthen Adeleke’s ability to navigate state politics while maintaining attention on governance.
Adeleke reiterated that his realignment was not motivated by personal ambition but by the desire to ensure that Osun State remains on a stable and progressive path. He called on citizens to remain peaceful, united, and focused on collective progress, regardless of political differences.
The governor also encouraged Accord Party members to open their doors to new entrants and work closely with the public, noting that the success of any political platform depends on its connection to the people it aims to serve.
His announcement has already generated significant political reactions within the state, with observers awaiting how this realignment will shape future political alliances, governance dynamics, and preparations for upcoming electoral cycles.
